Dal Makhani is a popular Indian dish made from black lentils( urad dal) and red kidney beans( rajma),  coddled in a rich and delicate sauce made with tomatoes, spices, and cream. It's  generally served with rice or Indian  bread similar as naan or roti. The dish is known for its smooth and  satiny texture and its rich, homely flavor. Dal Makhani is a  scrumptious and simple dish to cook,

Ingredients to prepare Dal Makhani/dal makhani recipe:

  • 1 mug black lentils (urad dal)
  • 1/2 cup red kidney beans (rajma)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  •  medium tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • diced  green chilies
  • 1 inch ginger
  • finely diced  tsp cumin seeds 
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 mug heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp diced  Fresh cilantro , for garnish 

Instructions to cook Dal Makhani/dal makhani recipe:

Soak the black lentils and red kidney beans overnight in water.   Drain the soaked lentils and  beans and transfer them to a large pan are soft and completely cooked, about 30- 40  minutes.   In a separate  pan,  heat the butter and add the cumin seeds. When the seeds start to  swish, add the diced onions and cook until golden brown.   Add the  diced garlic and  ginger to the  pan, followed by the pureed tomatoes, green chilies, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and  salt. Cook until the tomatoes have broken down and the mixture has thickened.   Add the tomato mixture to the cooked lentils and  bean, along with the heavy cream. Stir everything together and let  poach for 10- 15  twinkles to allow the flavors to  immingle.   Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and with rice or Indian  bread. Enjoy!

What To eat With Dal Makhani/dal makhani recipe?

 Dal Makhani is best served with rice or Indian  bread similar as naan, roti, or paratha. The delicate and rich sauce of the dal  mix well with the soft and  ethereal texture of the rice or  bread.

 To  round  the flavors, a side of pickles, raita, or papadum is also a good choice. A vegetable dish,  similar as aloo gobi or baingan bharta, can also be served to balance out the  mess.
